tournament preperation. What is a good way to prepare for a tournament in your estimation? I will be going to the largest unrated tournament in MI shortly, and I would like to know from some of the tournament goers what they have found important.

ok.... opening preparation is important, and endgame knowledge is needed... tactics can get you, uh... just practice and study like 2 times as much as you usually do... thats what i do, but dont use me as an example ;-)

Rest... For me I work a LOT as much as I can, but then take a week with NO CHESS.....that way when I get to the tournament I'm really hungry for chess. (And not just for points....)

This really helps me to play well in losing or difficult positions... and I'm fresh and relaxed and refreshed...

mettlesome is right, that's my way to prepare for rated or unrated tournaments. works fine most of the time. but not for a week i caouldn't last that long :) 3days are enough for me
