Richardson will be doing the Sunday morning talking heads on George Stephanopoulos's "This Week." They will be talking about his exploratory committee announcement.

As noted in The Australian:

If Richardson is the nominee, look for a Democrat lock on the Southwest--New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, which would make him a shoo-in for the Presidency.

that's promising

I think Richardson's candidacy would be a boon in that region...many of those states are swing states (Nevada, Colorado, NewMexico, Arizona).

It's hard to say if Richardson would loose any states that another candidate would carry -- Vilisak would probably take Iowa, but aside from that, I think the big candidates are either seen as too leftist (Clinton, Gore, Edwards) or just don't have the experience (Obama) to have much support outside of the Democratic heartland.

And Nevada!

Oops. Forgot about Nevada. And thinking more about it, he would probably shore up New Hampshire and Oregon, depending on who he was running against. If he keeps to his guns (literally) the rust belt (Ohio, W. Virginia), Montana; who knows?

It's hard to say what the Republicans would gain--maybe New York and the Northeast if Rudy is it.

Now that would be an interesting realignment to say the least!
