Blue America PAC is fighting the FISA bill

The Blue America PAC has already raised $200,000 to fund advertisements targeting Democratic supporters of retroactive immunity for telecommunication companies
Glenn Greenwald has been all over this, noting how the Bush adminstration has adopted the very surveillance policies that it criticized Russia for, as recently as 2006. He has also noted how Obama has failed to really fight over this issue due to his loyalty to the Washington elite, despite all his rhetoric about dismantling that rankist enterprise.
This reminder of Obama's fallability reinforces my emphasis on methods of political action that stay away from the "cult of personality" model that focuses on individual campaign contributions. Obama clearly has enough money to fund his campaign, so I'd like to find ways to support what I like about his agenda while strengthening independent power bases. Political Action Committees (such as Blue America) may not be ideal in this respect, but they are better than individual campaigns.
